Vintage Fancy Flowers Wedding Flower Card

Create with Connie and Mary has a great color challenge this week, Pool Party, Sahara Sand, and Basic Black.  When I saw these 3 colors together, I thought "Elegant Wedding Card"  YAY!  We have a wedding coming up this month and if I am not mistaken, black is in the color scheme, so this is perfect:).  At The Friday Mashup, they have a great sketch challenge using a square card.  For wedding cards, I love to use the larger sizes because I think it makes the card look more formal and fancy.

Don't foget to check out http://www.createwithconnieandmary.com/ and http://www.fridaymashup.com/ to see the other cards created for these challenges!

This was a very involved card for me! Here's a snapshot of what I did...

For the Background of the cardfront:
Using the Crumb Cake Classic Ink Pad, I inked the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, put my cardfront in and ran through the Big Shot.

For the Basic Black Flowers:
Run 3 Basic Black Fancy Flowers through the Big Shot using the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.  Then spritz using Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz and lightly distress one of them by scrunching the middle together a little then add an Antique Brad.

For the Pool Party Flowers:
Run 3 Pool Party flowers through the Big Shot using the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.  Then spritz with the water bottle and scrunch in the middle to bunch them up.  Use Glue to keep them slightly scrunched.  Spritz the Sahara Sand Marker with the Color Spritzing Tool, onto the flowers.  Layer Boquet Blossoms over and attach a brad.

I didn't have any ribbon to match this project so I used Carrie Gaskin's instructions on dyeing ribbon.  Basically you take equal parts vinegar and boiling water in a heat safe dish then add enough re-inker ink in the color you want to dye the ribbon.  Pat dry with a towel and allow to dry a bit.  (Be very careful with this as it will stain certain counter tops and fabric - ie. the clothes you are wearing!)  My ribbon didn't turn out as good as I would've liked, however black is a very difficult color to achieve if you want it really dark.  Overall I am still happy with the result!
