Winter Post Card

I really wanted to get another post in before Christmas takes over my household completely:)! Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge this week was to make an old-fashioned Christmas project and I combined this with a great sketch from Freshly Made Sketches (see below) and The Paper Players color challenge to use Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla and Gold.

Here is the great sketch:
I wanted to follow the basic layout of the sketch but I really wanted to use my new Labels collection Framelits for the Big Shot (from the upcoming Occasions Mini Catalog 2012).  I LOVE THESE NEW DIES!  They are so easy to store and I love the layering possibilities.
I used the Winter Post Stamp Set from Stampin UP for all of the stamped images on this card.  For the main image, I used the skating couple and embossed with Gold Embossing Powder.
To create the gold frame around the couple, I cut a smaller label with the Big Shot then laid it on top of the couple and used a Versa Marker to add ink as a border then embossed it with Gold Embossing Powder.
For the sides, I used the snowflake image on Cherry Cobbler cardstock cut with the Labels Collection in the Big Shot.  To finish the card off, I added a Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon bow and embossed the background using the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.

Apothecary Art Card(HSSCC96)

This is the 2nd card I made after I got all of my new stuff from the upcoming Stampin' UP! 2012 Occasions Mini Catalog.  The new Framelits for the Big Shot are WONDERFUL and so is the Paper Doiley Die.  Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge this week is to use Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzaz, Pool Party and Real Red.

The card base is Blushing Bride, run through the Big Shot using the Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  I used the Elements of Style stamp set to stamp the background on the Pear Pizzazz layer.  Then I layered the intricate doily design  from the Paper Doily Sizzlit Die using Real Red cardstock.  The main stamped image is the largest stamp from the Apothecary Art stamp set stamped on a piece of Blushing Bride Designer Series Paper from the new Twitterpated package.  Then I cut it out with a scissors and layered it on top of a Pool Party piece of cardstock cut out using the Labels Collection Framelit.  I used a scissor to cut the image out because I messed up on the edges!  Oops:).
For the bottom of the card, I used the new Adornign Accents Edgelit Die in the Big Shot to cut the shape then ran it through the Big Shot again using the Adorning Accents Embossing Folder.
For the embellishment, I used the Owl Builder Punch to punch out leaves on Pear Pizzazz cardstock. Then I used the Scallop Circle Punch to create the flower.  I punched out 2 scallop circles then sprayed them with water so I could scrunch them up and glue them down. A little Real Red bow made out of the 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon and some Crystal Effects finished it off.

Gnome Family (CCMC179, KKCO7)

My package arrived today from Stampin' UP!, full of sneak peek goodies in the upcoming 2012 Occasions Mini and 2012 Sale-A-Bration...SO EXCITING!!  The new products are once again absolutely amazing and I couldn't help but indulge in lots of new tools, stamps, and accessories.

To put my new toys to use, I made a card for Create with Connie and Mary's fun color challenge using Poppy Parade, Lucky Limeade, and Basic Gray.  I combined it with the KAPOW Kreative Challenge which is a great sketch this week.

I used Gnome Sweet Gnome and Gnomenclature from the upcoming 2012 Occasions Mini for all of the stamped images on this card.  The background is a piece of Lucky Limeade Cardstock stamped with the wagon, grass, flowers and watering can in Lucky Limeade Ink.
The Poppy Parade ribbon and co-ordinating brad came from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog, Everyday Enchantment Ribbon & Brad Pack. How much fun are those patterned brads?!?  Love them!
I stamped the Gnomes in Basic Gray Ink and colored them with Stampin UP! markers.  Unfortunately, I did not have all of the co-ordinating markers so I used Real Red, Wild Wasabi, So Saffron, Basic Gray and Blush Blossom.

Non-Traditonal Zoo Review Christmas Card

This week at Create with Connie and Mary, they are having a sketch challenge.  I combined the sketch challenge with The Paper Players challenge to make a non-traditional Christmas card using non-holiday stamps or colors.  The other day I was thinking about the Zoo Review stamp set and how the penguin and polar bear stamps could be used on a Christmas card.  So, tonight when I sat down at my mother-in-law's house, I made a non-tradition Christmas card with a Stampin' UP! set that was not made just for Christmas.
Thinking of Penguins, I thought of Black, White and Orange (like the beak) so those are the colors I decided to use.  The base of the card is Whisper White, then a layer of Basic Black, and the Designer Series Paper is Pumpkin Pie from the Brights Collection Paper Stack.  I ran the strip of Basic Black cardstock through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.
I used 1/4" Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain Ribbon for the ribbon and a Basic Pearl.  The sentiment came from the Christmas Lodge Stampin UP! Stamp Set.
The Penguin is from the Zoo Review Stampin' UP! stamp set and he is so cute! The penguin was stamped in Basic Gray on Whisper White cardstock then carefully cut it out.

When I first made the card, I used a Pumpkin Pie card base.  I didn't quite like it so I swapped it out for Whisper White and I liked it a lot more!  Which do you prefer?

Gingerbread House Ornament

Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge this week is Anything But A Card, Christmas Ornaments.  What a fun idea!  I decided to make a hand-crafted Gingerbread House Ornament (to commemorate our tradition of making a Gingerbread House every year).

I used the Milk Carton Die in the Big Shot with Soft Suede cardstock to create the base of the Gingerbread house.  Then I used the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Punch on Whisper White cardstock to create the "trim" of the house.  Tempting Turqouise, Real Red, and Daffodil Delight markers were used to add the polka dots to the trim which are supposed to look like sprinkles.
The Roof of the house is just a piece of Whisper White cardstock cut to 1 1/2" by 4" and scored at 2".  I used Tempting Turqouise, Real Red, and Daffodil Delight markers to draw "gumdrops" on the roof since I don't have any candy stamps (something to add to my wish list!).  I used Dazzling Details to add glitter to the gumdrops.
For the front of the Gingerbread house, I cut two little squares of Whisper White cardstock then used a Basic Black Marker to make the window pane and a Read Red Marker to add curtains.  I used Stampin UP!'s Crystal Effects to make the windows gleam.  The wreath is a piece of Old Olive Cardstock punched with the Scallop Circle from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack then punched with a Hole Punch in the middle.  The door is just a piece of Whisper White Cardstock colored with a Tempting Turquoise Marker then covered with Dazzling Details Glitter.

Thanks for visiting!
